OFS Optical Fiber

OFS designs and manufactures high performance fibers offering superior performance and reliability. Working with our global cable partners, OFS helps end-users to reach increased capacity for video, voice and data transmission. The industry's benchmark full spectrum fiber, AllWave® Zero Water Peak (ZWP) Fiber, offers increased bandwidth and capacity and the lowest loss in metro/access applications. LaserWave® Laser-Optimized Multimode Fiber is designed for premises applications up to 100 Gb/s for distances to 550 meters and beyond. TrueWave® REACH is the latest in a series of advanced Nonzero Dispersion Fibers (NZDF) from OFS. For applications with unique requirements beyond ultra-long distance and high speed, OFS Specialty Photonics Division provides added-value optical fiber solutions for specialty applications.

Fiber by Performance Characteristic
Use this tool to locate our fiber products according to the categories designated by ITU-T (single-mode) Recommendations and ISO/IEC (multimode) Standards.

Fiber by Application
Visit the "Fiber by Applications" page to view our fibers listed by, Enterprise Network, Long Haul Network, Metropolitan Network, Regional Network and Transoceanic Network.

Single-Mode Fibers
The OFS metropolitan and access fiber solutions, including AllWave® Zero Water Peak (ZWP) and AllWave FLEX ZWP Fibers, seamlessly extend the optical network into the end user's premises. For use in transitioning from the long haul backbone through the longer metro express to the metro local, TrueWave® RS Low Water Peak (LWP) Fiber is an excellent option to support continued bandwidth growth. If the need is for a cost-effective long haul network, Raman-optimized TrueWave REACH LWP Fibers can efficiently carry a network from hundreds to thousands of kilometers. UltraWave™, TrueWave and AllWave Ocean Fibers are the choice for continent-to-continent as well as medium and shorter distance submarine connections.

Multimode Fibers
OFS offers Graded-Index Multimode Fibers in a variety of core diameters and bandwidth options to support a wide range of short reach LAN, Central Office, and Data Center applications. Our LaserWave® Fibers cost-effectively support enterprise networks up to 100 Gb/s. DMD-controlled to provide optimum performance with laser sources, LaserWave® Multimode Fibers are designed and manufactured to a carefully controlled refractive index profile achieving low attenuation, high bandwidth and longer link distances.

FTTX Fiber
OFS offers leading-edge optical fibers for fiber to the home, businesses, and multiple dwelling unit deployments, that are key components of our comprehensive FOX Solution™ .

Bend-Optimized Fiber
OFS bends the rules of optical fiber by offering a complete portfolio of bend-optimized technologies that meet the most demanding requirements of communications, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), cable television, medicine, industry and other applications. As a leading designer of innovative fiber solutions, OFS Laboratories has a long tradition of developing optical bend capability and transforming industry-leading discoveries into real-world products. In fact, Bell Labs optical fiber research group (now OFS Labs) invented bend-optimized single-mode fibers in 1984. OFS creates its bend-optimized fiber designs to provide optimal bending support for each application.

Optical Ribbon
OFS has led the industry in optical fiber ribbon technology by being the first to introduce fiber ribbons in 1975, as well as the first to introduce UV-curable acrylate material ribbons in 1989. Today ’s AccuRibbon® Optical Ribbons hold up to 24 colored optical fibers in a planar array, providing a high fiber density unit for use in fiber optic cabling or routing inside electronic equipment.

Specialty Fibers
OFS Specialty Photonics offers a broad range of standard and custom specialty optical fibers. Specialty multimode fibers include products using our hermetic carbon coating expertise, as well as HCS® and PYROCOAT® brand technologies. Also, specialty ClearLite® singlemode fibers, TruePhase® polarization maintaining fibers, Erbium-Doped fibers, and cladding pumped and large mode area fibers doped with various rare earth elements, such as Erbium, Ytterbium, an Erbium/Ytterbium. OFS Specialty Photonics is the industry leader in fiber design or modification for highly customized applications.
